Conditions for passing exams
Structure of the academic year
The academic year is divided into teaching units called Unité d’enseignement or UE. To succeed and be graduated, you must validate all UEs, without exception. The courses of SDI-M are distributed into three UEs, one for each sequence, i.e. SD9 (roughly from September to November), SG10 (December to February) and SG11 (March to April). The filière corresponds to two business UEs, one for each semester.
The complete list of UEs are:
-
First semester S9 (Sep. to Dec.)
- Mention UE “SD9”
- Mention UE “SG10”
- Business UE 1
- Foreign languages UE 1
- Project UE
-
Second semester S10 (Sep. to Dec.)
- Mention UE “SG11”
- Business UE 2
- Foreign languages UE 2
- Internship UE
How to know if you pass a mention UE
Every UE “SD9”, “SG10” and “SG11” contains a set of courses. For each of these course, you have to take the “Session 1” exam (i.e S1). Let us denote N the score (from 0 to 20) you got in S1 for course C. Let M be the weighted average of the scores of the whole UE (see next section to know how to get the value of M with the correct weighting coefficients).
Then the UE is validated if M ≥ 10 and if all the scores in this UE are ≥ 7.
If one of these conditions is not fulfilled, you may have the opportunity to catch up with second sessions (i.e. S2). To determine whether you are eligible to take session 2 of a given course C, the following procedure is applied:
- if N < 7, you have to take S2.
- if N > 10, you are not allowed to take S2.
- if 7 ≤ N < 10, the rule depends on M:
- if M ≥ 10, you are not allowed to take S2.
- if M < 10, the administration will ask you to decide at your own risks… The score you get for S2 always replaces the score you got for S1.
How to know if you pass the whole academic year
To know if you pass all UEs, you can download this template to simulate your grade report for both semesters S9 and S10. You can use it to track your personal status according to the scores you got at the exams. Be careful: choose the right tab of the template, depending on your situation (FISE are standard students, FISA are “apprentis”, etc).
