Mathematics
The CentraleSupélec master in computer science co-accredited by CentraleSupélec and “Université de Lorraine” concerns only one track of the master degree in Mathematics of “Université de Lorraine”.
This is the research track MFA for “Mathématiques fondamentales et appliquées”.
It is important to understand that your scores for the master’s courses determine not only your success in obtaining the master’s degree, but also your success in obtaining the CS engineering degree. Therefore, very low scores in your master’s courses can endanger your engineering degree. Enrolling in a master’s program is therefore a serious commitment. This is why it is important to read the following before making any decision, in order to fully understand how scores are exchanged between the two training programs.
On the master’s side
Some of the master’s courses are taught at the University of Lorraine (UL), while others are SDI courses taught at the CS that also count toward the master’s degree.
UL courses
You will have to validate:
- On the first semester (S9) two courses of 54 hours (HPE) each.
- On the second semester (S10) one course of 30 hours
The list of opened courses change every year, as detailed on the MFA’s website. The list of courses offered for CS students will be presented to you at the master’s program presentation meeting scheduled for the first day of the academic year (rentrée).
SDI courses integrated into the master’s program
Here is the list of CentraleSupélec courses whose grades count for the master's degree, instead of other master's courses from which enrolled students are exempted:Short name | Course title | ECTS | Volume (h) |
---|---|---|---|
ModStat2 | Statistical Modeling 2 | 2 | 33 |
AppStat | Statistical Learning Theory | 2 | 23 |
ModStat1 | Statistical Modeling 1 | 2 | 29 |
RL | Reinforcement Learning | 2 | 23 |
On the engineering diploma’s side
Similarly, if you enroll in the master’s program, you are not required to take all SDI courses: some are replaced by UL courses that you take for the master’s program. In practice the score of every cancelled SDI course is replaced by the score average of the UL courses you attend.
Here is the list of CentraleSupélec courses from which enrolled students are exempted and whose grades are replaced by the average grades obtained in the master's program:Short name | Course title | ECTS | Volume (h) |
---|---|---|---|
PAIA | Perspectives in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence | 2 | 36 |
GPU | GPU programming | 2 | 20 |
Sparse | Sparse Models | 2 | 18.5 |
CPP | Advanced Programming in C++ | 2 | 20 |
